Giraffe Tatoo
Hi guys.
I have gotten a lot of emails from you asking why I have a giraffe tattoo. The answer is that my paternal grandfather used to collect giraffe statues. His house was filled with them. My grandfather was a great man. He did it all. He taught shop and was a band leader. “Jack Mohr and the High Hats”! HE was a big wig in the cosmetics industry and had many famous friends and confidants.
When he was near the end of his life, he told me the reason he collected giraffes is that they reminded him to always stick his neck out for what he believed in. When he passed, I began collecting giraffes. Then I eventually got the tattoo.

It took me sometime to think about what to say about this post, it is a very special post to read. I notice that there are many sided to Jay Mohr that sometimes you don’t share openly, well till your new book, “No Wonder My Parents Drank”, which if you are a fan reading these blogs and haven’t bought it yet, you really need to run out and get it or get it from Amazon.com.
The two tats that you have discussed with “your public” have such deep seated meanings to you that it shows people that you are more than a “Stand-Up Comic”, but you are a “Stand Up Guy” too. As a fan that means a lot to me to know, and now after reading your book, you have added a third dimension to the list, JAY MOHR = STANDUP COMIC + STANDUP GUY + STANDUP DAD, not a bad list for a guy that’s not even 40 yet.
I know this is an old post, but I’ve been fascinated w/ your giraffe tattoo since I saw a glimpse of it on one of your episodes. I have been collecting giraffes since I was a girl. I have one small tattoo and I’m been contemplating getting a giraffe tattoo. Can you post a pic of it?
